Omaha Steel Plant Tour

Omaha Steel Tour – Wahoo, Nebraska

Omaha Steel has been casting steel for over a century. Beginning in Omaha, Nebraska, in the early 20th-century casting parts for infrastructure and transportation, they now represent the leading edge of what a steel foundry can be. Today, Omaha Steel is a steel casting operation with a $20 million campus located in Wahoo, Nebraska. This facility, completed in 2014, uses the latest technologies for designing, casting, and finishing steel parts. They’ve established industry-leading practices for ensuring quality and consistency. Omaha Steel is ISO 9001:2008 certified and holds The American Iron and Steel (AIS) Certification, too.

Lunch will be provided before the tour, so please be on time if you want to eat. With this tour, you will need to make sure you wear appropriate clothing as follows:

• Long Legged Pants (no dresses, sweats or leggings). Slacks, jeans or dress Pants are acceptable
• Long or short sleeve shits (no tank tops)
• Closed toe shoes (no open toe, high heel or flip flops). If you have steel toe or metatarsal boots please wear them.
• Bring safety glasses, a hard hat and ear plugs or muffs. Omaha Steel has a limited amount of guest PPE available.

Your Host: DakotaHa Whiteowl has been the Safety and Environmental Specialist at Omaha Steel for about 5 months, wearing multiple safety hats during the process. His Manager who was present for the building of this new plant will serve as our tour guide. DakotaHa has been working in safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, demolition and construction for over 5 yeras prior to earning his Bachelor’s in Occupational Health and Safety this year. He is currently studying to take the CSP exam. He lives on a large farm in Iowa with his wife and two children, where he manages to dedicate time to his family despite his work schedule and studies.
